The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall from TreeHouse Foods affecting approximately 93 types of frozen waffles. These products were sold throughout the United States and Canada at major retailers including Target, Walmart, and numerous other grocery chains.
What Caused the Recall?
TreeHouse Foods products were found to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause foodborne illness. Listeria infection can be particularly serious for pregnant women, people over 65, and individuals with weakened immune systems, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Although no illnesses have been confirmed in connection with the recalled frozen waffles, the FDA is actively monitoring the situation.
