Instructions:
Prepare the Ingredients:

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Season the beef with salt, pepper, oregano, and cumin. Cook until the beef is browned and no longer pink.

Cook the Vegetables:

To the skillet, add the sliced onions, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Cook with the beef until the vegetables are soft and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.

Warm the Pita Bread:

While the meat and vegetables are cooking, warm the pita breads in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 5-10 minutes, or lightly toast them in a dry skillet over medium heat for a minute on each side until warm and pliable.

Assemble the Gyros:

Lay each pita bread on a flat surface. Spread a generous amount of tzatziki sauce over each pita.

Spoon the hamburger, pepper, and onion mixture down the center of each pita.

Add any optional toppings like sliced tomatoes, chopped lettuce, sliced cucumbers, or crumbled feta cheese.

Fold and Serve:

Fold the pita over the filling or roll it up like a wrap.

Serve immediately while everything is still warm.

Tips:

Beef Alternative: You can substitute ground lamb, turkey, or chicken for the beef if you prefer.
Homemade Tzatziki: Make your own tzatziki sauce by combining grated cucumber (drained of excess water), Greek yogurt, minced garlic, a splash of olive oil, lemon juice, and dill.
