This creamy potato dish is a traditional comfort food that is great for family dinners or special events.

Thinly sliced potatoes baked in a creamy cheese sauce create a delicious side dish.

List of ingredients:

2 pounds of potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet), peeled and cut into thin slices.

1 and a half cups of heavy cream

1 and a half cups of whole milk

2 cups of grated cheddar cheese

1 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese

3 tablespoons of butter

3 pieces of garlic, finely chopped

1/2 teaspoon of powdered nutmeg

Add salt and pepper according to your preference.

Fresh thyme, to decorate

Directions:
Heat the oven before using.

Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C) before using it.

Get the potatoes ready:

Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin slices, about 1/8-inch thick. You can use a mandolin to cut even slices.

Prepare the cheese sauce:

In a medium-sized pot, melt the butter on medium heat.

Put the chopped garlic in the pan and cook until it smells good, for about 1 minute.

Add the thick cream and milk, mixing well.

Heat the mixture until it gently boils, then add the shredded cheddar and parmesan cheese. Keep stirring until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.

Sprinkle some nutmeg, salt, and pepper to your liking.
